365 DAYS FLEW BY [2022 RECAP]

And just like that 2022 is finished. I remember as a child my father telling me how as one gets older, time passes faster. Back then I didn’t really understand what he means or how can time pass faster for one person and not for other. Since the year has 365 days and each day has 24 hours for everyone, but now I understand.

Time feels like its flying and before you know it current events become memories of the past. This year flew by for me, it was also a very dynamic and fast-paced year for me, which adds to the feeling of lasting not too long.

But let’s get into my year in review. If I can choose one word for this year it will be dynamic. A year that I moved my personal belongings around 5 times and across 2 continents, frequent travels, lots of changes and still not settling down.

I began the year in San Diego, California and first week of January decided to go to Puerto Rico and stay there for 4 weeks. Life on a remote island was interesting, not sure that it fits with my preference of fast-paced and hustle culture environment. But it was definitely a nice experience.

In February it was time to go back to Europe to spend a couple of months there. And although it is nice having the ability to live half of the year in the US and half of it in Europe, its also a logistical nightmare. So packed our stuff, left some behind and flew back to Europe.

March and April were spent catching up with friends, ski trips, road trips and weekend trips around Europe. I finally saw my best friend from London after 3 years (thanks COVID) and spent a couple of days with her on the Cote d’Azur. Did a weekend trip to Berlin with another friend and a 5 day Balkan roadtrip with friends.

May was spent mainly in nature and for my birthday I went on my dream trip to Cappadocia, spent the morning of my birthday flying in a hot air balloon which was truly magical.

And then summer came, summer was filled with numerous travels. It started with a few days on Korčula Island and Dubrovnik, before settling in in Tivat, Montenegro where I stayed for a month. It was beautiful month and a half spent on the Adriatic coast and traveling around Montenegro. End of July headed for a week vacation with friends to Lefkada Island in Greece, another beautiful place visited this year.

August was no exception, began the month with a trip to Tuscany with my mother, days filled with amazing food, museums, lots of gelato and living the dolce far niente lifestyle. Then went on a weekend trip to Athens with my father (one of the few perks of having divorced parents is you get 2 vacations a year). Been wanting to visit Athens for a long time, so it was a lovely weekend learning about Ancient Greek history. And before I knew it I was flying out back to NYC.

One of the happiest moments of 2022 was when I landed in NYC, it gave me the feeling of home. We decided to move to NYC and stay there more permanently (still going back and forth with Europe). We got an apartment and I was super excited to decorate it and make it feel homey and cozy. Life in NYC is just so good to me. Sunday walks in Central Park, museum visits, great brunch spots, amazing bars…the list can go on.

We also did some pretty cool trips like a weekend in Chicago, fall foliage road trip through New England, Salem for Halloween season, road trip to California all the way to San Francisco.

And got back to NYC in time for the Christmas holidays and New Year Eve.

All in all it was a really good year on a personal and professional aspect. A year that I started new friendships, crossed off places of my travel bucket list, spent more time with family and just generally had a really good time.

I am definitely excited for 2023, already set my goals for the year and I am super determined to make 2023 my best year yet.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year, may it be filled with happiness, health and good memories.
