PELION [4 DAY ITINERARY]
Pelion, often described as the hidden gem of Greece, is a region that seamlessly blends myth, nature, and culture. With lush forests, pristine beaches, charming villages, and a rich history, Pelion offers a captivating experience for every traveler. This 4-day itinerary will guide you through the best activities and places to explore during your visit to this enchanting region.
DAY 1:
- Start your journey by flying into Volos or taking a scenic drive from Thessaloniki or Athens.
- Upon arrival in Volos, savor a traditional Greek cuisine by sitting down for a meal. My recommendation:
- Continue the scenic drive to Tsagarada
- Check-in into your accommodation
*If you are visiting Pelion in summer I would advise to stay in Tsagarada as it is the closest to the beaches.
We stayed at a gorgeous Greek house dating back to 1880, all the furniture inside was restored and dated back to the 13th century. Here is the link.
DAY 2:
- Have your morning coffee or tea under the shade of the 1,000 year old Plane Tree
- Hike the scenic Stone Path of Centaurs and be surrounded by ancient chestnut trees.
- Visit the Agia Paraskevi Monastery, known for its panoramic views.
- Descend to the Aegean Sea and relax at one of Pelion’s stunning beaches, like Fakistra Beach.
- Swim in crystal-clear waters and sunbathe on the pebbly shores.
- Return to Tsagarada for a delightful dinner at a traditional taverna, enjoying local dishes and live music. My recommendation: Itamos
DAY 3:
- Drive to Ano Lehonia to take the steam train to Milies
- Enjoy the scenic train ride through the mountain, the ride takes around 1h and 35 minutes. One way ticket is 10EUR and I highly suggest buying them online though the Helenic Train app. The train only runs once a day every Saturday and Sunday.
- Explore the charming village of Milies, famous for its stone bridges and the historic Moutzouris Train.
- Lunch break in Milies. My recommendation: Aeglis.
- Beach time on Milopotamos beach.
- Return to Tsagarada for dinner and relax in the cozy ambiance of a local taverna. My recommendation: Taverna Agnanti.
- Go for drinks at the garden bar Σκάλα.
