MY FAVORITE OATMEAL RECIPE
Being at home 24/7 with all the restaurants closed has gotten me really into cooking. I mean have you watched my last two vlogs? I even made pizza from scratch, if you have missed them click here. Anyway one of the things I enjoy most about quarantine is the fact that I can pay more attention to what I eat, and try to eat as clean and as healthy as I can. I wanted in today’s blog post to share with you guys my favorite oatmeal recipe.
Not only it is super easy and quick to make it is also very nutritious and healthy. Let’s get into it.
What you will need (serving for 1 person):
- 1/3 cup oats
- 200ml of any almond milk (you can also use any type of milk including dairy or water)
- 1 ripe banana
- fruits, nuts, seeds and peanut butter for topping
First thing you do is mash the ripe banana in a bowl using a fork, after the banana is mashed you add the oats, mashed banana in a pot, you add 100ml of the milk and over medium heat you stir them all together (tip: if you want the oatmeal to cook faster, increase the heat). After a few minutes add the remainder of the milk, if you want your oatmeal to be more liquid add more milk and/or water, and if you want to be thicker add less milk/water. Stir until the oatmeal starts to boil and after 45 seconds to a minute remove it from the stove.
Next, pour the oatmeal in a bowl and get creative with your toppings. I topped my oatmeal with some fresh strawberries and blueberries, peanut butter, almonds (for some extra protein) and mixed seeds. And voila you have yourself a healthy and nutritious meal. I love having this in the morning, keeps me full until lunchtime.
