If you ever wonder where the western tradition for gingerbread house began, the first thing coming to my mind is to give thanks to the Grimm brothers and their cannibalistic witch. Since then told in the story of Hansel and Gretel, to today…deeply rooted in the holiday tradition, in the western world. We see it everywhere from home, to the White House. In 1812 the story for Hansel and Gretel by the Grimm brothers was published, in which a house of biscuits and candies appears. But, for the appearance of the gingerbread house besides thanking the Grimm brothers we have to thank a couple other nations and historic periods.
