My little eScape

October 8, 2017

Welcome to my new home in London in the new academic year. It may sound to you crazy, but I actually enjoy living in a small space. Yes, there are both challenges and restrictions with it, but I always look at small places with embrace. Maybe that is because I grew up in a fairly small bedroom and I always enjoyed organizing and arranging my objects and things, not just so they can fit but to also look aesthetic.

So when I saw the studio that Scape offered me, I knew it was the perfect place for me. Here are a couple of reasons why I like small places and I hope with this reason I will change the mind of those who always complain they don’t have enough room.

  1. Yes it is a challenge, it is truly a challenge to fit everything you need in a miniature space, everything to have its own place, nothing to be overloaded and still to make sure that the functionality and aesthetics of the space are followed. Small living spaces make you innovative and makes you think of functional solutions so that everything looks tidy and practical.

  2. Good habits are born. You realize you can live with less things, you make A list of all the important and necessary things and B list of all the unnecessary and you basically keep all the necessary things at home. This is a habit that many dream of.

  3. You become realistic. You stop buying unnecessary things and give away all that you don’t need. You simply realize you are happier with less.

  4. You become minimalistic. It is hard to be minimalistic today in a materialistic world, where people are obsessed with shopping. That is why I am happy that small space teaches you of this habit. You become selective and you control what you buy.

  5. You become a creative person. Creative with little, aesthetic with refined sense for quality instead of quantity. You only put a few details, the rest you can save, and put them up later so you can give a refreshed look.

  6. You are perfectly organized. If you make a mess, it only takes you a couple of minutes to tidy up. But in reality in a small space is hard to make a mess.

  7. It is easy to clean. There is no need for a lot of explaining about this one, in just a couple of minutes this studio is perfectly clean. Which means you have more time for yourself and your interests including all the facilities this building offers for it’s residence such as gym, cinema, common room and all the other things you need for a complete student life.

You have set up your little corner in your world beautifully ! I agree with all the facts you state in living in a smaller space. Most important would be not to collect junk, which we all have a habit of doing. May you continue being a minimalist in this materialistic world

Oh my gosh it is so super cute! I especially love the tiles over your sink. You certainly have the knack for decorating as well and I’m with you: a smaller space is much easier to clean! 🙂

This is an awesome place! I agree that having less is having more! I need to work on minimizing the amount of stuff we have in our house. A family of 4 collects a LOT of stuff over time!

It’s hard to minimize the amount of stuff when you live in a bigger household xx

Space and London is not something that usually appears in the same sentence! However, you’ve managed to create a pretty cozy place, even if it’s not very big!

That’s cool that you found a great place you can use the space to your advantage. I could definitely use some more minimalistic ideas in my life and have less. I need that. I think that would help my daughter as well.

That is one cool studio, I would love a place for myself kind of a DEN. Less is always better plus the building itself has so many amenities, overall looks like a great package.
